Admission Requirements for Study in South Arica, South African Universities, Eligibility Criteria, Application Process, Procedure for Study in South Africa-
Following is the eligibility criteria for study in south africa for mba, engineering, bachelors, masters and phd programs for getting admission into south african universities:
Admission procedure:-
International students who wish to apply for admission to the African University must be in possession of a valid study permit/permanent residency permit and have the necessary medical aid cover before their application will be considered.
Foreign students must also provide the following as part of their application for admission:
1.Statement of purpose
2.Copies of transcripts for all previous university studies
3.Copy of reports for final year projects in PDF format
4.Copy of masters dissertation or equivalent in PDF format (for PhD students only)
5.A list of published journal articles, if any
6.Three letters of reference
7.Rank in class
8.For students who did not complete their studies in an English medium University, TOEFL exam scores (internet based test - iBT) must also be provided.
Eligibility:- In south Africa the eligibility is different for different levels. Some guidelines are mentined below:
Completed at least 48 credit points of your course at Monash (except Engineering and Law)
Engineering students must complete 96 credit points (less for intercampus exchanges between Monash Australia and Malaysia)

- Law students (single or double degree) who intend studying law units overseas must complete 72 credit points in total which must include 48 credit points of compulsory or quasi compulsory units from the Bachelor of Laws. These 48 credit points of Law units can have been completed at Monash or have been given specified credit from another institution.
- Law double degree students who do not intend studying law units overseas must have completed at least 48 credit points of their current course.
- An active enrolment in a Monash undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at any campus in Australia , Malaysia or South Africa
- A credit average (60%) in the results so far in your current course
- Applied for a country other then the country of citizenship
- Selected a full time load of on-campus units at the overseas university
- Been assessed by a process of consultation with Monash Abroad and faculty staff as a suitable representative of Monash University
Requirements for Honours Degrees
Candidates registering for an Honours degree should take note of the General Regulations as well as additional departmental regulations are given below:
- The degree is conferred only after at least one year has expired after obtaining the Bachelor's degree.
- Students must pass postgraduate modules totalling 128 units. The majority of postgraduate modules offered by the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering are worth 32 units.
- Students must take at least 75% of the total module units from the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering. The remaining units may be taken from other departments, subject to the approval of the Postgraduate Committee.
- A student must attain at least 50% for each module and may repeat each module only once. The final mark will consist of the average of a semester mark and an examination mark. A student must attain a sub-minimum of 40% in the examination in order to pass a module. No supplementary examinations are allowed.
- Candidates must complete the degree within two years (full-time) or three years (part-time).
- Students who have completed postgraduate modules at other universities, may apply for recognition of these modules for their Honours degree. Applications will be considered on merit by the Postgraduate Committee.
- Students must take note of the depth and scope of the postgraduate modules. Each module of 32 units will consist of 32 hours (2 x 16) of contact time and the student must allow for an additional 218 hours (average) of self-study.
- A student passes with distinction if he/she has attained an average of 75% for all his/her modules.
- Honours students who intend to continue with their Masters degree are encouraged to take the “Introduction to Research” module (32 units) – during this module they will be guided in preparing a research proposal for their intended Masters degree.
For the Masters program the candidates should take note of the General Regulations. A summary of these regulations and additional departmental regulations are given below:
- The degree is conferred only after at least one year has expired after obtaining the Honours degree.
- The degree is conferred on the basis of a 128 unit dissertation.
- Candidates must complete the degree within four years.
- The 128 unit dissertation carries the same weight as 4 postgraduate modules and approximately 1000 hours should be spent on research and preparation of the final manuscript.
- A Masters student passes with distinction if he/she attains at least 75% for the dissertation.
- A Masters student must submit at least one article for publication to a recognised journal before the degree can be conferred. The article must be based on the research of the dissertation. A copy of the article, as well as a copy of a letter from the editor acknowledging receipt of the paper, must accompany the final submission of the dissertation.
For a PH. D program a candidate must take note of the General Regulations a summary of these regulations as well as additional departmental regulations are given below:
- The degree is conferred only after at least one year has expired after obtaining the Masters degree.
- The degree is conferred on the basis of a thesis.
- Candidates must complete the degree within four years.
- Ph.D degrees are not conferred with distinction.
- PhD students must submit a letter of acceptance for publication or a published article on the work done during the PhD period, from an accredited journal; and another draft article must be submitted for publication and the “acknowledgement of receipt” letter from an accredited journal must accompany the final submission of the thesis. The articles must be based on the research undertaken for the thesis.
