University Description
Bergen National Academy of the Arts is situated in five different buildings at two separate locations in the city centre. The Dept of Fine Arts is at Nordnes, in C. Sundts gate 53 and 55, approximately a 10 minute walk from Torgallmenningen (the city’s main square). Dept of Design and Dept of Specialised Art are situated in Marken and in Vaskerelven. The study administration and other administrative staff and services (Rector, Director, Economy, Human Resources, Information and the Artistic Research Coordinator) can be found in Strømgaten 1 across from the railway station.
Bergen National Academy of the Arts (short in Norwegian: KHiB) offers a three year BA and two year MA study programme in the Subject Areas Visual Communication, Furniture- and Spatial Design/Interior Architecture, Photography, Printmaking, Ceramics, Textiles and Visual Arts. KHiB also participates in the national Research Fellowship Programme in the Arts (PhD-level).
KHiB has 300 students and around 100 staff members. KHiB is divided into three departments: Dept of Design, Dept of Fine Art, Dept of Specialised Art.
KHiB is part of international networks and encourages students to use exchange programmes in their studies. 30% of the academic staff is recruited internationally
