Glamorgan is known as a provider of quality higher education, best illustrated by an excellent Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Institutional Review in November 2008 and impressive outcomes from the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.
Renowned for its friendly community and supportive atmosphere, Glamorgan continues to grow and attracts more than 25,000 students to its campuses in South Wales and delivery points across the globe.
The University’s research activities go from strength to strength, as illustrated by their growing reputation in several fields, including sustainable environment, disaster management, mobile communications and medical imaging. In October 2008, the University opened its Renewable Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Centre at the Baglan Energy Park, which will be the first of its kind in the UK. In the recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), their status was one of Wales’ leading research-active universities. More than 70% of Glamorgan’s research activity was assessed as being of a quality recognised internationally for its originality, significance and rigour, with around 10% of this research recognised as being world-leading.
The University acknowledges the benefits of collaboration with other universities in Wales, the UK and overseas.
In the year 2007, they were one of five universities shortlisted by the Times Higher Education Supplement.
