University Description
AAUC was founded in 1994 as a result of the reorganisation of higher education in Norway. Three former colleges in Aalesund, the College of Marine Studies, the College of Engineering and Aalesund College of Nursing were then merged into one institution. A new building, completed in 1999, welcomes you with an open and lofty space creating a wide range of social opportunities for students and staff alike. The beautifully designed and very well functioning building has gained recognition both locally and in the prestigeous international magazine Architectural Review of May 2001. AAUC offers a wide range of 3-year professional study programmes and prepares students for future employment and careers within business management, engineering, health care, fisheries and maritime trade. In addition AAUC offers two master programmes at present time.
The university college is uniting theoretical skills with closeness to each professional field. The curriculum is designed to enable students to develop both analytical and critical skills. Many courses have periods of practice where the students try out future professional roles.
