Gjøvik University College has approximately 2200 students and 260 employees. Gjøvik University college is a Norwegian university college with an international perspective. 24 countries are represented among our staff the Autumn 2009. GUC was established as a result of the reorganisation of Norwegian higher education in 1994.
Student life
Ski i Hafjell It is easy to be active in Gjøvik, there are a variety of different student groups and teams; skiing group, photography group, the student newspaper, film group, climbing group, volleyball team, and more. Gjøvik has something to offer everyone! On campus there's a student "house". Concert, theme parties m.m are arranged here..
Ideal for outdoor activities
Both Mjøsa and the area around the city is ideal for an active outdoor life. In addition, you will also find a great swimming facilities in the centre, Fastland. In the winter you can take advantage of a stunning cross-country skiing around town, with one of the country's best slopes. If you like alpine, telemark or snowboard, it is a short way to Hafjell and Kvitfjell. The climate is stable. When it's winter it is cold and a lot of snow and in summer it is dry and hot. The landscape around the city alternates between green pastures, waving fields, forests and hills.
Central
Gjøvik is centrally located in the heart of Norway. It is short way to Oslo Airport, and the distance to Oslo is only 13 miles. Neighboring villages Lillehammer and Hamar is a half hour's drive away. Communication connections are good.
