Foreign students from outside of the EU coming to Lithuania to study for one or two semesters need a residence permit. They can obtain one prior to departure at the Lithuanian embassy in their home country. You can find your closest embassy through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania. All the documents should be submitted to the nearest diplomatic mission or consular institution of the Republic of Lithuania. The documents necessary to submit for Temporary residence permit 1. University letter requesting residence permits (Letter of mediation) 2. The letter confirming that you have been accepted 3. Application 4. A passport and its copy 5. 3 photos (passport size) 6. Proofs of sufficient means of support (400 Litas per month). 1€ = 3,45 Litas. 7. Adequate medical insurance valid in Lithuania. This document must be submitted upon receiving notification from Migration Department about decision to issue a Temporary residence permit. 8. Proofs of accommodation
Upon submitting the application candidates are also required to submit a copy of their passport. Original passports would only be required for authentication. The embassy has the reserve right for asking any other authentication. Incomplete applications would not be accepted. Visa processing depends upon the nationality of the candidate.
