University of Aberdeen was established in 1495 by William Elphinstone, Bishop of Aberdeen and Chancellor of Scotland, Aberdeen is Scotland's third oldest university, and the fifth most ancient in the whole United Kingdom. The University of Aberdeen is one of the UK's most internationally distinguished universities. It has a student population of around 16,000 and a large international community of students drawn from 120 different countries. Teaching at the University of Aberdeen is organised across three colleges, which encompass a broad range of disciplines in academic schools.
